Joseph M. Lambert was named senior associate dean of Penn State's School of Information Sciences and Technology.
Lambert, who assisted in the launching and development of the IST program, was a key player in the construction and direction of the program's courses and its curriculum.
Prior to being named associate dean of the IST school, he acted as the program's chief budget officer and also served as a chair of the committee overseeing the construction of the college's expansion to West Campus, anticipated for a 2003 completion date.
Lambert, the first associate dean of IST, was appointed in 1999. Formerly serving as Director of Academic Affairs for the department of computer science and engineering, he was head and associate head of the computer science department.
Lambert is responsible for the coordination of the IST undergraduate program at all eighteen Penn State locations where it is offered. In addition, Lambert is chief liaison with various university units working in joint IST minors.
