The Penn State baseball club team finished its spring break run by winning three and losing three at the Homestead Challenge in Florida. The Lions only took one game in a four game series with Lewis College. Lewis overpowered Penn State at the plate by outscoring it 56-26 across the series.
The Lions went on to sweep St. Joseph's College in a doubleheader by defeating the Cougars 6-4 and 4-0, respectively.
Pitchers Tom Case and Bill Lippert combined for the two wins against St. Joseph's, and Lippert threw a complete game, four-hit shutout in the final contest to give the Lions their third win in the tournament.
Junior outfielder Aaron Thompson was solid at the plate for the Lions as he went 9-19 with eight runs scored and two RBI through six games. He also smashed two triples, four doubles, and had one stolen base.
The club team walked away from the Florida series with its record evened at 4-4 on the season thus far, and they will face the James Madison University club team in a four game series that will begin on Saturday March 17.
