Letter to the Editor
Alumnus' view of students pessimistic, generalized
I pity Mr. Bankos for his pessimistic view of the Penn State student body. It is easy to point out the evils of Sex Faire, yet he does not give any credit to the thousands of students who participated in Thon. Bankos describes students as "little children" who "whine and cry," expecting handouts. If that were the case, we would not be attending Penn State. A college education is not a handout, and for most students it is a struggle. We attend because we are willing to work hard and contribute to society. As for our morals, I invite Bankos to attend any on-campus religious group meeting. Just because our morals are not his morals does not mean we are turning this world into a "worthless pit of depravity." We live in a very different era than Bankos grew up in. Just ask the military veterans, active duty, reservists and future officers on campus. They too, put their lives on the line for our country. Mr. Bankos, please do not allow a small group of students and their actions (whether you approve or not) to speak for an entire generation. I refuse to let your close-minded opinion speak for your entire generation, and thankfully so.
