Students deserve respect for 'revolutionary' ideas
In response to Gregory Bankos' letter concerning Sex Faire and Dr. Laura, I must say that those are the words of an uninformed man. On the topic of Sex Faire, I remain neutral, but I will say that it is getting a bad rap. This small activity, with respectable intentions, was invaded by an overzealous, soon-to-be-unemployed politician, who acted more like a reporter for Hard Copy than a Congressman. I have not seen the video, but I can almost guarantee this production is completely biased and does not tell both sides of the story. Concerning Dr. Laura Schlessinger, the Collegian's staff editorial was completely right. She is in no way involved with the situation and her opinion should not mean a thing. Her scheduled appearance was nothing more than a failed public relations stunt from a struggling radio personality. Finally, Bankos' disrespectful tone towards we "little kids" is ridiculous. These 40,000 "little kids" on this campus are doing things his generation never could have dreamed of, such as raising $3.6 million for kids with cancer in this year's Dance Marathon. That may not mean much to Bankos, but we are in the process of changing the world we live in just like some of the "revolutionaries" from his generation did. At the time, they were possibly laughed at, but their efforts made this world a better place. Eric Solomon
