Letter to the Editor
Rep. Lawless' objectives 'Hitler-esque', oppressive

I am a little confused about something. Are we living in Nazi Germany?

Some may laugh at this question, but I promise you this is no joke.

We are being oppressed by a man who doesn't even know what life is like at Penn State.

His visit during Sex Faire was probably his first time on campus. But in a Hitleresque manner, he is trying to annihilate our rights of free speech and petitioning government.

What really surprises me about Rep. John Lawless' attacks is that he attended college in the 1970s in which sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll were more widely accepted than they are now.

And while he threatens students with ending their careers before they start, perhaps he should be worried about his career coming to an end after this whole thing blows over.

Another thing that angers me is having people like Mr. Gregory J. Bankos Sr. writing letters about "the youth of today."

In his letter, he criticizes us for protesting this whole thing, when he might have been one of the people that protested the wars in the '60s and '70s.

I am trying to figure out where he gets off thinking he can criticize our morals and values, when he must remember the he, too, was in college.

I would like to know if he consumed alcohol before he turned 21 or ever was in an intoxicated state. Because if he was, that is viewed by some to be immoral.

If I could say one thing to Lawless and Bankos, it would be this: People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

To my fellow students: Welcome to Germany.

Heil Lawless!
