Letter to the Editor
In the spirit of Olympics, China should have chance
This is in response to the letter to the editor titled "Olympic games of 2008 should not be in China." In my understanding, the Olympic spirit is that people from all over the world, regardless the background and disagreement, gather together to reduce misunderstanding, build friendship and make a better world. Yes, there are human rights problems in my country. But what country is immune to problems? As I see it, China has made great progress in human rights in the last twenty years, although still not enough. It takes time to change. When Olympic games were held in Los Angeles in 1932, racial separation was still widely accepted in some states, even though the United States was already called the country of freedom. Considering what Americans have achieved, I have no doubt about what we are going to achieve. When Chinese people reach out their hands to you with smiles and friendship, give your hands not some harsh words and kicks.
