The first American patient to receive the Arrow LionHeart, a Penn State-designed electronic blood pump, is recovering smoothly, his doctors said yesterday.

Spending taxpayer money to visit and videotape Penn State's Sex Faire on Feb. 3 was "the price of doing business," state Rep. John Lawless, R-Montgomery, said last night on a television call-in show.

The Cat in the Hat, Sam I Am and the citizens of Whoville have teamed up this week with Penn State students to celebrate Read Across America.
