Letter to the Editor
Legislature should punish Lawless for his attacks

State Rep. John Lawless says he wants state support for the university suspended until it respects "community standards." Obviously he cannot mean the community here, where there are no problems; he must mean the standards of the communities that he represents.

CORRECTION: When originally published, this letter contained an editing error.

Once we realize this, we can see that there is a much simpler solution: The Legislature should just make it illegal for Penn State to admit anyone from his district. That way, the good children there (in state Rep. John Lawless’ district) will not be tempted to associate with all the disgusting people from the rest of the commonwealth.
