PSU ignores complaints regarding student parking

Once again, I would like to commend Penn State on a job well done. They have continued to neglect the students in their ever-present complaint about a lack of parking by limiting available spaces further with an addition of the new Career Services building. While a Collegian article points out that no buildings "will be torn down" and "what will be lost is the parking lot" it still seems that they miss the point. Let's not forget that there is already an extreme lack of places for students to park on campus even with spending $80 per semester for a student pass.

I don't think I need to discuss any further the trek to the dangerous flower gardens at night or hoping for a spot in Lot 80, which recently and covertly lost another 150 spaces to faculty parking.

I think it is ridiculous to penalize students that have their own cars by only allowing them the "privilege" to use their cars for the weekend only. Many of us do come from out of state and taking a bus every time we want to go home is ludicrous. The university needs to recognize this and make necessary amends.

The money collected by this school for parking tickets, abundances of corporate sponsors and increased tuition should be more than enough to pay for a new parking deck or lots that better serve the students. More buildings at this school are not the answer if no one can get to them.
