Accident: A Penn State student was trapped in his vehicle early Saturday morning after an accident that the State College Police Department said may have been alcohol related.
The driver, a 21-year-old Penn State student, told police he swerved his 1994 Saturn to miss a pedestrian. After swerving right on North Atherton Street, the man jumped a curb, hit a streetlight and flipped over, police said. The man sustained only minor injuries.
Police said they found no evidence of a pedestrian and believe alcohol played a role in the accident. Police are continuing the investigation, and no charges had been filed yesterday.

Harassment: A homeless man who was just released from Centre County Prison was arrested Saturday for harassing and stalking an employee of Kelly's Shoes, 126 E. College Ave., State College police said.
The man was writing letters to a female employee of the store since his release and was picked up by police at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. The man was arraigned in front of District Justice Bradley Lunsford and is currently being held in Centre County Prison on $1,000 bail.
He was charged with retail theft and trespass.

Theft: A male Penn State student reported the theft of a backpack from the Corner Room, the State College Police Department said. The theft occurred Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. The student said the backpack contained $560 in cash, police said.

Theft: A resident of the 100 block of North Gill Street reported someone stole a red and purple Burton snowboard with CFX bindings from the roof rack of his car, State College police said. The snowboard is valued at $450.

Theft: A State College resident reported Thursday to the State College Police Department that someone stole a backpack, textbooks and a computer disk from a soft top Jeep Wrangler while it was parked along the 700 block of Stratford Drive. There were no signs of forced entry, State College police said. The items are valued at $315.

Theft: An Amtrak engine was reported stolen Saturday from Forster's Trains and Toys in Lemont, State College police said. The engine is valued at $300.
