A male Penn State student was assaulted while walking alone on the 300 block of West Beaver Avenue Saturday, the State College Police Department said.
The student was walking near the Albright-Bethune United Methodist Church on the corner of West Beaver Avenue and South Burrowes Street when he was first approached by two white males. Shortly afterward, the two men returned with three other men who punched and kicked the victim in the face, police said. The assailants then fled east on Beaver Avenue. A lone female who was not involved in the fighting accompanied the suspects, police said.
Police said the victim was treated at Centre Community Hospital and suffered substantial bruising, lost teeth and a torn ear where an earring was ripped out.
The suspect who initiated the assault is described as a white man, approximately 5' 10" tall and weighing 165-170 lbs. The suspect's hair was dark in color and described by the victim as being "gelled and spiked on top."
Anyone with information regarding the assault is asked to call State College Police Detective Joe Grego at 234-7150.
