USG establishes rules for breaking election ties

The USG Senate passed a resolution to revise the Elections Code Tuesday night.

Concerning the possibility of a tie in the upcoming elections, Senate passed the revision to establish a way to break that tie.

A special run-off election would be conducted. The run-off election would take place within one week of Election Day and be conducted during the same hours of the original election. It would be open to all undergraduate students who were eligible to vote in the initial election.

If, after that, another tie existed, another run-off election would proceed the same as the first. The procedure would continue until a winner was declared.

"It's the best option because it gives the students the choice," USG President Matt Roan said.
