[Tuesday,
Feb. 20, 2001 ] Today's University Park
forecast
Disbelievers of the
Groundhogs forecast for six more weeks of winter
will be in hibernation this evening, as winter will make
its return during the remainder of the week. Below normal
temperatures and a chance to see a bit of the white stuff
will grace Happy Valley, but there will be no large storm
in our future until a weekend disturbance brings the
threat of mixed precipitaion.

Weather
Highlight
Severe drought conditions along with a
few hard freezes earlier this winter are to blame for a
raging wildfire in central Florida. Ten miles of
Interstate Four to the east of Tampa were closed because
of heavy smoke and downed trees. Also, the New York
Yankees had to end their spring training workout early
due to smoke in the region. There have been a total of
1,230 wildfires in Florida this year.
