Smokers outside Rec Hall contradicts goals of Thon
While driving on campus this past weekend, and visiting Thon, I was quite disappointed to see the congregation of girls and guys (who were representing Thon through Morale and other such committees) standing outside of Rec Hall smoking. While the reason for Thon is to help kids with cancer, and it is known by many that smoking is one of the main causes of cancer, these girls and guys had the nerve to be smoking in front of Rec Hall. How disappointing it must be to the children suffering from this terrible disease to see people putting themselves at risk for developing cancer. I think it's great all the money that is raised to help kids fight cancer, but shouldn't these educated college students be responsible enough to try to prevent cancer from affecting themselves or others? Maybe next year, those participating in Thon can hold off on smoking until they are away from the eyes of children. Let's try to be the responsible ones and show respect for these kids suffering from cancer.
