Pennsylvania sports teams far surpass New Jersey's

The section of Katie Graham's column that was most damaging to her credibility on the issue of New Jersey is where she attempts to argue that teams from her home state of are somehow superior to those in Pennsylvania.

She cites the Giants in the NFL, "while Pennsylvania has the Eagles." Here's a quick bulletin: There's another little pro football team in Pennsylvania known as the Pittsburgh Steelers. You know, the same Steelers of four Super Bowl trophies as compared to merely two for the Giants. Also, the same Steelers who were named the Greatest Dynasty Of All Time by ESPN and NFL Films. By combining the Eagles' and the Steelers' Super Bowl appearances, you get six, whereas the lowly Giants combined with the Jets have but four. Advantage: Pennsylvania. You then move on to NHL hockey. Total Stanley Cups for New Jersey: two. The total for Pennsylvania: four. Advantage: Pennsylvania.

Then on to baseball. The Pirates have won five World Series titles. Philadelphia franchises have won six. That makes 11 for Pennsylvania, and New Jersey doesn't even have a Major League Baseball team.

For your sake, I won't mention the Nets.

In the future be sure to cover all facets of an argument before you propose a definitive side to it in a public forum, such as this one.
