Students should take time to visit Thon this weekend
As we all know, this weekend is Penn State's Dance Marathon. I am a dancer this year, and I've never been so excited for anything in my life. Unfortunately, I have learned that not everyone shares my enthusiasm. I asked a friend yesterday if he was going to come visit Thon. His response: "No, I'm not going." What kind of response is that? When I said he should be there to support people, he said, "If I wanted to support it, I'd dance myself." Well, whether or not he comes, it made me feel compelled to say to encourage everyone to come out to Thon this weekend. You don't have to be a dancer to have a reason to be there. You just have to be someone who cares. One person can and does make a difference. We have such a privilege to be a part of something that is the largest of its kind in the world. If no one showed up, and it was just a bunch of tired dancers, what reason would we have to go on? Every face that I see in the stands this weekend will keep me going. So please take an hour out of your weekend and swing by Rec Hall, if not to encourage those of us who are there, then do it for yourself. You will be a better person for having taken part in helping to save the life of a child.
