'Vagina Monologues' flier offensive and unnecessary
As I was entering the Willard Building on Valentine's Day, my good mood and day were ruined in one swoop when I glanced at some fliers that had been posted in the walls of the building. This flier was presumably promoting The Vagina Monologues (the flier didn't say anything about The Vagina Monologues, it merely said, "Love your vagina with all your heart"). However, the topic matter was not what offended me. What offended me was the graphic drawing of a vagina on the flier. I found this to be lewd, offensive and unnecessary. I understand the need for shock value at this university in order to get attention, but I feel that this display was over the top and distasteful. Most people are shocked at the name of the play in the first place; thus, there is no need for a graphic drawing to attract more attention. This may be considered cute by the artists and it is, indeed, just biology. But I hope that I am not alone in believing that these posters were not appropriate for public.
