A Penn State professor will receive the American Society for Microbiology's 2001 Graduate Microbiology Teaching Award.
J. Greg Ferry, the Stanley Person Professor for Molecular Biology, has been at Penn State since 1995.
He was chosen because of his work in teaching and assisting graduate and post-graduate students and his encouragement of students to pursue far-reaching goals.
The ASM will present the award at a dinner meeting in May, where Ferry will also present a lecture.
The American Academy of Microbiology named him a fellow in 1992.
