'Left Behind'

When it comes down to the choice of whether to read the book Left Behind or see the movie-version, the decision is easy: read the book.

Appearing both in theatres and video stores, Left Behind is a Christian-based movie in which, without warning, millions of people disappear, leaving only their clothes behind, causing an incredible panic with those left behind on earth.

The main character, Buck Williams (Kirk Cameron), somehow figures out that the people who disappeared were given rapture, and those left behind would have to face seven hard years on earth. Much of this is based on the book of Revelations in the Bible.

Nicolae Carpathia (Gordon Currie) gains the trust of the world by promoting peace in the time of panic. Only Williams can see whom Carpathia really is — the antichrist.

For those who, like me, do not read the book version before seeing the movie, much is left for you to assume. The movie moves along very fast and seems disconnected, and storylines are not fully developed to help you to understand what is going on.

For those who did read the book, you will notice many differences in the plot, such as the main character's job and a romance between two characters not in the novel.

With no notable climax or resolution, an underdeveloped plot and differences from the book, this movie will unfortunately confuse and disappoint.
