While other students will be spending Spring Break on the sunny beaches of Mexico or Florida, some Penn State students will be planting trees.

This weekend, visitors at the Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon will get the opportunity to help orphaned children in the Dominican Republic as well as children with cancer.

As Penn State gets closer and closer to hosting the next Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, fraternities and sororities are not the only ones gathering together to finalize preparations.

Rachel Feinmesser, an Israeli consul, told a group of about 30 people yesterday that Israel's primary goal is to achieve peace with Palestine.

Valentine's Day helps us tell the important people in our lives just how special they are.

The Bhutanese film The Cup will be shown at 7 p.m. today in 110 Wartik as part of the International Festival, which lasts until Feb. 18.

Smeal College of Business associate professor Donald D. Bergh has been appointed associate editor of The Academy of Management Journal beginning July 1. Bergh, who joins more than 80 members of the Journal's editorial board from colleges and universities around the world, is the only Penn State professor on the board.


SPORTS

Penn State's bench has been almost non-existent throughout much of the season.

If the Penn State men's lacrosse team's first scrimmage against Gettysburg proved anything, it showed that the Nittany Lions will not be lacking in scoring ability in the 2001 season.

If the Atlanta Braves have taught us anything, other than the increasingly annoying Tomahawk Chop, it's that a good pitching staff is one of the benchmarks of a good baseball team.

The past two seasons have been successful and this season the Nittany Lions will try to make it three in a row.

The seniors of the Big Ten find themselves in an unusual position — looking up to a pair of freshmen.
