Theft still common at PSU; club wants its trophy back

A few weeks ago, a letter to the editor presented the topic of parties and theft. No matter how many letters appear, a portion of the college population will continue to attend parties, drink the host's beer, and steal something as they walk out the door. Such theft is unfortunate in any case, but it is even more troubling when the stolen item has historical significance. During a party last semester, someone stole a trophy belonging to the Penn State Triathlon Club. The irreplaceable trophy represented seven years of competitions. The founders of the 10-year-old Triathlon Club won the trophy for Penn State in one of the first collegiate triathlon competitions in the nation. On behalf of the club, I ask the thief to correct his or her mistake and return the trophy. We await news of the trophy's whereabouts.

Kyle G. Thomas
president of Penn State Triathlon Club
