Letter to the Editor
Students must appreciate opportunities UPAC gives

This letter is in response to the letter by Nick Magnini that appeared in Friday's paper. You truly have no concept of the value of the education available to you at Penn State. You say that UPAC is "misusing and throwing away the $38 that each student pays a semester" and that of the events that are funded, "only a few students actually benefit." If I recall correctly, one of the questions on a UPAC funding application asks about who will be able to attend the event. Usually, this answer should be that it is open to the general student body. That means as a student, you are welcome to attend just about all of the events funded by UPAC. Maybe you should expand your mind a little and experience some of those opportunities. And if you really think that UPAC and the Student Activity Fee should be terminated, don't go to any HUB Late-Night movies or free concerts like Movin' On, or any of the other numerous events that are supported through their funding and attended by thousands of students each year. I hope that over the next four years you will learn to appreciate where your money is going and enjoy it for yourself.
