Letter to the Editor
Willard Preacher has said inappropriate statements

On Monday afternoon the Willard preacher made a comment that cannot be ignored. Mocking Womyn's Concerns, he said, "If you women don't want to be viewed as sex objects, then stop spreading your legs."

I want someone to tell me why this man is allowed to stand outside everyday and insult students under the premise of religious enlightenment. I've heard him damn us to hell for having sex, say that homosexuals are evil and on several occasions, call women whores. I understand the value of freedom of speech and expression, but how do the majority of his speeches have any value whatsoever? This is not the way to help people understand the dangers of viewing women as sex objects, and it is not a way to convert people to more religiously sound behaviors like abstinence.

It is insulting and offensive, and I don't think that we as students should have to be subjected to this. I will never understand why the preacher repeatedly feels the need to place the blame on women. Coming from a "religious" figure, it is morally wrong. Our whole campus community needs to remedy our sexual interpretation issues, not just the women. I suggest that the Willard preacher and people who share his views consider the real underlying causes to societal problems and think of solutions that come from us.

I also suggest that the Willard preacher restrain from public sexual discrimination, because I believe that it manifests from the evil that he claims to crusade against.
