Charges filed against Donegal hoops coaches

The State College Police Department filed charges against two high school basketball coaches who allegedly furnished alcohol for eight girls during a team visit to State College Jan. 27, State College Police said in a press release yesterday.

Jonathan Flahart, 31, and Daniel Hartman, 20, are accused of buying alcohol for players on the Donegal High School girls basketball team during an overnight trip to watch a Penn State game. The team was staying at the Hampton Inn, 1101 E. College Ave.

Donegal High School is located in Mount Joy, Pa.

A parent of one of the players reported the incident to State College Police, the release said. The girls ranged in age from 15 to 18.

Flahart, of Delta, Pa., is charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a minor, six counts of corruption of minors, nine counts of selling or furnishing alcohol to minors and one count of driving under suspension.

Hartman, of Hanover, Pa., is charged with six counts of corruption of minors, eight counts of selling or furnishing alcohol to minors and one count of purchase, consumption, possession or transportation of alcohol.

The men's preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 7.
