PSU's photo department's facilities broken, outdated
Why has the university failed the photography department? Have we forgotten about the importance of visual communication in our everyday lives? If that is the case, it is a sad day for an institution that promotes growth and understanding. The facilities seem post-apocalyptic or old world in nature. Much of the equipment is broken, outdated, or just held together by makeshift materials. The space provided is no larger than a double-wide trailer, and the number of students using these spaces continues to grow exponentially. One would think that due to simple economic principles, such as supply and demand, a change would occur to help accommodate this need. Students attempting to register for photography classes find themselves at the mercy of instructors and classroom size specifications. Logically one would think if there is so much interest in photography, then the university would feel students deserve to have modern, job-oriented resources. This not only pertains to the photo students. It affects everyone who has artistic endeavors here at Penn State. Maybe it is time to start construction on the art stadium of the campus.
