In the spirit of the discussion over the Class of 2001's class gift, I felt like taking a few minutes to thank Penn State myself.
First of all, thank you, Penn State, for keeping me here an extra semester at my expense, of course.
With the help of apathetic advisors and poorly designed curriculum, I get to pay for an extra semester plus several summer courses for my four-year degree.
Also, thank you, Penn State, for spending my money on socially enriching activities like Cuntfest and coming out rallies.
I'm not against the expression of diverse viewpoints, as ignorant or destructive as they may be, but I wish I at least had a choice to decide what my money was going to help fund.
While I may sound like an angry student who's missed out on the "college experience," stop and consider my words before you pass judgement.
Before we decide on our class gift, we should think about exactly what it is we're thanking Penn State for.
Sure, the football games are great, and a good deal of prestige comes with a degree from Penn State.
But everything I take with me when I graduate is a product of my money and hard work.
Penn State never gave me anything.
Now I don't think it's a university's responsibility to hand out freebies, but I also don't think we owe the university anything either.
Our tolerance of the nonsense that goes on here at our expense should be thanks enough.
