PSU's basketball program unsuccessful due to coach
One writer complained about our only play being a "40 foot three-point shot" by Joe Crispin. It's a simple fact that Joe Crispin is our best player and one of the best in the country. He has to be the one taking critical shots for our team. If he gets a good luck at a shot, be it a 10-footer or a 40-footer, it is his place to take it. I also agree that our recruiting has been lackluster, to put it nicely. I played AAU basketball for 7 years, traveling to tournaments against some of the best players in the country. The scouts sign in, and I've seen Duke, North Carolina, Michigan, Maryland and many others. Not once did I see Penn State. If these tournaments attract some of the best players in the country, where are our recruiters? There are some exceptions, of course, but these are far-outweighed by the players we've failed to sign or even pursue. This all stems from the top. Jerry Dunn's contract should not be renewed. Recruiting is just the tip of the iceberg. The men and women in charge do not need to look very hard to see a number of other problems that are hindering the success of the program. The bottom line is, Jerry should be "Dunn."
