Valentine's Day embraces commercialism, capitalism
Good guys and all of the women in search of them so that they can feel complete need to find something else to do because we are complete people. Instead of wasting your time searching for "the one," you need to be focusing on expanding yourself, your horizons and society. When we search for "the one," good guys and good girls are really on a hunt for co-dependency. With this in mind, I propose a new holiday to replace the dysfunction of Valentine's Day. Let me preface my new idea by saying that the spirit of celebrating those you love is a great thing. However, that's not what Valentine's Day does. Valentine's Day celebrates materialism, capitalism and is little more than a runway-model walk for displaying couples. Instead, everyone needs to find a way to individually celebrate the love that he or she has for all of the people close to them. We have to get away from the market-based prepackaged holiday of co-dependency. By finding a way to fully embrace and revel in the love of our partners, we can break free of the unrealistic and unfulfilling notion of Mister or Miss Right!
