Police find rabid skunk in Ferguson Township

The Ferguson Township Police Department announced yesterday they found a skunk with rabies on Friday.

The skunk, which police said was acting strangely, was found in the 2200 block of Bristol Avenue, in the Good Hope Farms II development. Police destroyed the animal and subsequent tests revealed the skunk had rabies.

Police said usually animals with rabies are found in the summer months, but the disease is still active in the area now. Police warned to be careful of raccoons, skunks and stray cats, the primary carriers of rabies.
