Glover's speech attendees emphasized status as star

After attending Danny Glover's speech Thursday night, I felt embarrassed to be one of Penn State's students, who portrayed themselves as star-struck children.

Danny Glover, who has dedicated a significant amount of his life to fighting for human rights and being active with the United Nations and in all realms of society, kindly came to our campus to speak as a citizen, not an actor.

The numerous questions from the audience focused mainly around his movies and career as an actor, not as an advocate. What makes a person a "distinguished speaker" elite enough to be invited to our campus to speak is not because of Hollywood prestige, but because of noble endeavors, like Mr. Glover's societal accomplishments and activism. '

I feel that Mr. Glover has given back so much to our world and should be respected for that.

Let the man be admired as a person for one night.
