Letter to the Editor
All parts of world suffering from Middle East conflict

In response to Allison Altman's letter about myths in the Middle East, I feel that there is a lot that has gone unsaid.

Altman states that it was sad that while she was in Israel over winter break that she had to reassure her parents that she was OK. The Israeli people are not the only ones affected by this. How does she think it feels to have family in the Middle East, and have to worry about them on a daily basis? This is their land, and they cannot even feel safe there. Meanwhile, we cannot even have peace of mind while watching the Middle East peace process unfold in front of our very eyes thousands of miles away.

Altman goes on to say the "Israelis are desperate for peace, and the Arab world will accept nothing less than the destruction of the State of Israel." It is not the destruction of Israel that the Arab world is waiting for. It is the return of their land and safety they want and rightfully deserve.

The Arab world will not back down to watch Israel take the land that belongs to the people. The Arabs want peace just as much as anyone, but how are they going to compromise a land that belongs to them? Innocent lives are being taken on both sides, and this must stop. It obvious that not only is all of the Middle East suffering from this conflict, but so are people across the world.
