Letter to the Editor
Student trustee apologizes for misunderstood quote
I share the disappointment of Maribeth Collins in the ideas that were attributed to me in the Jan. 22 edition of the Collegian, and I extend my utmost apologies to anyone whom I have offended. While I cannot accuse anyone of misquoting me, the quote that has been referenced was taken severely out of context. My initial point, and the point that I wanted to stress during my interview, was that I have received tremendous imput on a variety of issues from many students at the Commonwealth Campuses and little to no input from students at University Park. Mr. Cooke was surprised by the attendance that I noted of the CCSG council meetings. I responded to the personal surprise of the reporter, and not to any sort of formal question, with the quote to which reference has been made. I did not mean in any way to belittle the work and effort done by CCSG and its members. In fact, I intended to laud the organization. I am indebted to CCSG for the cooperation they have shown in the past semester. The forum they have created is ideal for getting a great deal of work done as well as providing social opportunities to strengthen the quality of their group. I am terribly sorry for the message that was expressed in that article, as they do not accurately portray my opinion of CCSG.
