Police found the man who is suspected of entering five unlocked rooms of female students in Brumbaugh Hall between Sept. 23 and Jan. 9.
Penn State Police Services have not officially filed charges against the suspect and have not released his name. He has been moved off campus, however.
Penn State spokeswoman Christy Rambeau said the suspect was moved off campus, because "it was best to move him away from the victims." Rambeau said the suspect was a resident of Brumbaugh Hall and criminal charges against him may be filed Friday or Monday.
Since Sept. 23, there have been five incidents of an unknown male entering female rooms in the East Halls dorm. On Sept. 23, a woman woke up to discover a sticky substance on her face. The substance was sent to the state police crime lab in Harrisburg for analysis.
On Oct. 6 and 15, a man entered unlocked rooms of female residents in Brumbaugh Hall and on Oct. 20, a naked man walked into the Brumbaugh dorm room of more female residents. Another incident occurred on Jan. 9.
A victim in the Jan. 9 incident said when she entered her room in Brumbaugh Hall where her roommate was asleep at about 2:30 a.m., she saw a man by the door and hit him. In response, he pushed her into a wall and ran down the stairwell.
Victims in one of the October incidents reported a similar scenario. The two victims, who are roommates in Brumbaugh Hall, said they discovered a man in their room in the early morning hours in the beginning of October.
One of the roommates had planned to go out that night but instead fell asleep, and forgot to lock the door. Later that night, when one of the women woke up to take out her contacts, she saw someone scramble out from behind her roommate's desk and run down the hall. When she looked out the door to see where the man went, she saw the door to the stairs closing.
A witness in the Oct. 6 incident was staying in a friend's dorm room in Brumbaugh Hall for the night and heard someone moving behind one of the desks at about 5:30 a.m. When he called out to the person, a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt got up from behind the desk and ran out the door.
The witness said Penn State police notified him and other victims and witnesses yesterday morning about possibly testifying in the suspect's hearing. Police told the witness that "an arrest was imminent."
Three of the incidents happened on the eighth floor of Brumbaugh Hall and two occurred on the second and tenth floors.
Brumbaugh Hall is a co-ed residence hall.
Clifford Lutz, police supervisor for Penn State police would not describe the nature of the forthcoming charges against the suspect. Penn State police were unaware of the press release that was sent out by the university's public information department, Lutz said.
Judicial Affairs has begun processing the information about the incidents, Rambeau said.
