Mormons deserve location conducive to worshipping
I'm sure the students who live in the four houses which could be destroyed to build a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are upset they could be losing their homes. However, Mormons have different beliefs, so having a multipurpose service at Eisenhower Chapel once a week does not suit them. They deserve to have their own church close to campus, and although there may be other locations suitable, East Beaver Avenue seems to be close and convenient. If these houses were so historical, it is doubtful the owners would rent them to students. It is selfish to blame the church leaders for wanting to provide a building to serve students by allowing them a place to worship. The real problem lies with Penn State. If they hadn't redesigned the housing process, people wouldn't need to find places to live in a hurry. Also the argument for pets not being welcome has nothing to do with the church taking that opportunity away. It is the landlords at the apartments who don't want the hassle of cleaning apartments where pets lived. The students who risk losing their homes should be grateful they had the opportunity to live in such a nice place. Most people came to college to learn, and some came to party, but I really don't think anyone came here because they thought they'd have a nice place to live. I think they have private colleges to provide things like that.
