Letter to the Editor
Clinton has nothing to do with America's prosperity
As a loyal conservative, I consider it my duty to respond to Friday's editorial in which the Collegian praised Bill Clinton and his so-called legacy. The Collegian stated that Bill Clinton's eight years in office have been marked by great economic success and prosperity, despite his scandalous behavior. I have one question for those who believe the Collegian's statement: What did Bill Clinton have to do with our prosperity? The answer is nothing! The first two years of the Clinton presidency were marked by failed attempts at socializing our health care system, huge military cuts and high taxes. Things did not start to turn around until the Republicans took control of Congress and kept Clinton and his Arkansas band in check. But one cannot give credit for this prosperity to the government. The true creators of prosperity are the American people. While Bill Clinton has done his best at trying to take credit for our success, the truth is that while he does enjoy a very high approval rating, he has a low personal approval rating. That is the Bill Clinton legacy. He has taught the children of America that you can do whatever you want, no matter how immoral it is as long as people have money in their pockets and are happy with their lives. The Collegian board of opinion ended their article by saying how proud they are of Bill Clinton and how much they will miss him. They certainly do not speak for me. I am neither proud of him nor will I miss him, and I truly hope that our next President will pull the United States out of the moral crisis Bill Clinton has created.
