Police Log

  • Aggravated Assault: A fight occurred in front of Acme Pizza on the 200 block of E. Beaver Ave. at 1:12 a.m. Friday, the State College Police Department said. Witnesses said a group of males were hanging around the Acme Pizza line and exchanged heated words with the victim. One male from the group punched the victim on the left side of his head and another male punched the same victim while he was on the ground, State College Police said.

    The victim was taken to Centre Community Hospital for treatment.

  • Aggravated Assault: A 25-pound ball of ice was thrown into the window of rental house on the 200 block of S. Allen Street at 1:50 Friday morning, State College Police said.

    The occupants were asleep and one was hit in the face with the object. She was transported to Centre Community Hospital where she was treated for injuries to the nose and face.

    The extents of the injuries are unknown, State College Police said.

  • Arrest: Cynthia L. Garis, of 424 Waupelani Dr., was arrested Thursday on the charge of being a fugitive from justice. The warrant was from Tarrant Co. Sheriff's Department in Forth Worth, Texas. Garis is charged with stealing $15,000-$20,000 from her place of employment in Texas. She is a 35-year-old white female, State College Police said.

  • Criminal Mischief: Eight unknown men flipped a Honda Civic onto its side about 2:30 a.m. Sunday on the 100 block of Sowers St., State College police said.

  • Health and Safety: A Penn State student received a fractured arm at about 10 p.m. Saturday on the 200 block of South Sparks St. after taking a $20 bet and jumping out of a window and onto a bed, State College Police said.

  • Theft: A $700 sofa and a $200 chair was stolen from the first floor common area in The Legend apartment building, 246 Highland Ave. A suspect has been identified and charges are pending, State College Police said.

  • Theft: Four chrome hubcaps, two headlamps and assemblies, two turn light lenses, and a grill were stolen from a '91 Oldsmobile in Randy Confer's Used Car Lot, 1225 E. College Ave. The estimated value of the items stolen is $595, State College Police said.
