Penn State welcomes back a familiar face as Kelly Buchanan returns tonight to play at 7:30 p.m. at Saints Café, 123 W. Beaver Ave.
Buchanan has been performing both as a solo artist and with a band ever since her days at Penn State in 1998 as an international business and integrative arts major. At that time, she was a regular performer in the local coffee shops and on the campus radio station.
Since then, she independently released her debut CD, A Bipolar World, and went on to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she currently resides. Buchanan has also been touring in the area and beyond, venturing as far as France and Ecuador.
To build more awareness, she also performed Wednesday at the Espress'ery in Pollock Commons.
The appearance tonight will feature Buchanan singing and playing acoustic guitar in the same style that was done when she first began playing in local cafés. Her blend of folk ballads and alt-rock presents listeners with a diverse experience of music. More information about Buchanan can be found at her website, www.kellybuchanan.com.
