Letter to the Editor
Brief about inauguration really an ad in disguise
As I was reading the Collegian on Wednesday, I went to the "non-biased" section of the paper titled "News in Brief." I always assumed this part of the paper was a summary of small news articles. I never realized that this section was a free advertisement section for anyone lucky enough to know a Collegian writer or editor. When I saw the headline, "Students invited to take part in Inaugural Protest," I realized this fact is true. This "news brief" listed all the information one would need to take part in the organized protest during the inauguration of George W. Bush. The Collegian had the nerve to disguise this liberal advertisement as an article. I guess the Collegian makes the assumption everyone at Penn State is liberal and, therefore, this "news brief" really is news we all want to know. Just remember this: If you are a conservative, you will have to pay for advertisement space to announce your organizational efforts to travel to inauguration. However, if you are liberal and have something to announce, just talk to your good friends at the Collegian and they will work something out for you.
