Phroth 'belligerently rude,' appalling new publication

I am not sure if all students have seen it, but there is an appalling publication circulating around Penn State.

It is called Phroth, and this disrespectful, wannabe humor magazine is simply a collection of unedited trifles that were probably compiled while the writers were under the influence of alcohol or a more detrimental substance.

Many of the jokes are belligerently rude and offensive.

It seems that some Penn State students have reached an all-time low.

Sexist jokes, insults aimed at the greek system, and mentions of masturbation and pornographic magazines all occur on the very first page of content.

Later, there appears a completely falsified study on the benefits of binge drinking and a "feature" article glorifying the actions of porn star Jenna Jameson.

Phroth actually printed a picture of Jameson desecrating the Nittany Lion Shrine.

Even if some people subscribe to this lowest form of humor, it does not excuse Phroth from being completely inappropriate.

Why do they think they can insult even something as personal and individual as a person's hairstyle, as they do in their "Mullet of the Month" article?

Why do they feel the need to equate pimping, which is a crime, with a higher education as they do in a falsified message from the College of the Liberal Arts?

They assault organized religion on several occasions and even disrespect the late Jackie Kennedy Onassis.

Their only political commentary consisted of lampooning police investigations and legal proceedings in a section called "Flash News," yet another poor sexual comment. These asinine attempts at humor are neither funny nor appropriate.

We Penn State students cannot, in good conscience, condone this stupidity.

Something should be done to stop it.
