Those who dislike Eminem have choice to not listen
First let me state that I don't think that Tim Swift is wrong in his opinion that Eminem has certain lyrics that are questionable. It's his opinion, right? However, that doesn't mean he is correct either. He stated that his roommates and he were riding in a car after just purchasing The Marshall Mathers LP, and he became upset by the lyrics. There is one simple solution to that: Don't listen to the record. If you don't like the music, change it. If you don't like the TV station, change it. A person does not have to view or listen to material he or she doesn't wish to be subjected to. However, the reason that Eminem received many awards at the MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year at the Grammys is because many people obviously do, in fact, like his music. Try as you might, you can't ignore the masses. Personally, I have both of his albums, and I am reasonable enough to realize that it's just music, not instructions for violence. It is not offensive to me; therefore, it doesn't make my stomach turn. People are too worried about how artists have an influence on violence. Not one artist puts the weapon in your hand and commits the crime. It's all up to you. So, once again, if you don't like it, please just change the dial.
