Letter to the Editor
Letters of reaction to YAF filled with misinformation
If I read one more letter filled with inaccuracies regarding Cuntfest and Young Americans for Freedom's involvement, I think I'm going to scream. Once again it must be said that YAF is not attacking Womyn's Concerns and Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance's First Amendment rights, YAF's actions are because of disproportionate funding to a little-attended event. First, to correct Ms. Rehrig's letter, YAF Chairman Jeff Budney wrote to state Rep. Lawless, not Tim Reeves. Gov. Tom Ridge was then informed by Lawless. I would also like to mention that the letter did not express Jeff Budney's feelings toward the event; he merely informed Lawless of the event. Furthermore, Wednesday's editorial brought up the controversial title of Star Parker's 1998 speech entitled, "Pimps, Whores and Welfare Brats." However, before assuming that YAF is being hypocritical, let us examine these two events. Cuntfest featured singers, self-defense workshops and anti-violence poetry. What they don't tell you is that the lesbian performance artist was nude, used her breasts as puppets, (excuse the following liberal use of profanity), passed around a "pussy" bag containing noisemakers, made maxi pad nose coverings which she called "pussy sniffers," and showed a film called Butt-F***ing Bunny, giving a graphic description of lesbian oral sex. Star Parker, on the other hand, did nothing of that sort. Instead, she gave an informative and intelligent speech, which attracted a far greater crowd. Now, I ask you, which was better use of the Student Activity Fee? I apologize to those of you who feel I am merely rehashing what has already been said. However, when people continually fill their letters with falsehoods, letters like mine are a necessity.
