[Thursday,
Jan. 11, 2001 ] Today's University Park
forecast
Plenty of sunshine, combined with more milder
temperatures, will make it feel like Spring when compared
to the bitterly cold weather Happy Valley has been
experiencing most of the winter season. An upper-level
disturbance sliding through the state may bring more
clouds Friday and Friday night, but expect sunnier skies
by Saturday. The next threat of rain does not arrive
until Sunday.

Weather
Highlight
A major storm system coming ashore on
the West Coast brought drenching rains and gusty winds to
California yesterday, with more of the same expected for
today. Winds gusting to 50 m.p.h. were reported yesterday
in San Francisco, bringing down trees and knocking out
power to nearly 4000 people. Fears of coastal flooding
are heightened with this storm due to the effect of the
full moon on tide levels.
