Letter to the Editor
Students should improve school spirit during events
It has come to my attention that during the home basketball game against Iowa, the television announcers doing the game made some insulting remarks about our wonderful university. They said, on national television (ESPN Plus), that we were the quietest crowd in the Big Ten and that you could hear a pin drop in The Bryce Jordan Center. These comments served not only as an insult to our athletic programs but also to our students and fans. The sad part of it is, they are right. The crowd has sounded like a pathetic squeaking mouse at home games so far. As a former of employee of the basketball team, I know how important it is to the players that they have support from their classmates, and I also know that they have very high hopes for this season. It is for these reasons that I challenge the student body to fork over two bucks and come out to the next home game against Northwestern. Let's show the nation just how loud we really are.
