Mona Counts was named Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Counts is a professor of nursing at Penn State and the Eberly Chair of Nursing at Penn State Fayette.

Counts has principally worked on development and implementation of health programs in rural communities, focusing on those in southwest Pennsylvania.

Counts is also the clinical director of the primary care center in Mt. Morris, Pa.
