Today's University Park forecast
partlycloudy. The frigid weather of the past week will gradually abate this weekend. After a few lingering snow showers and snow squalls this morning, skies will slowly clear. Temperatures will moderate to very mild levels by Monday, in advance of a more potent low pressure system. This storm will likely affect our weather later Monday and Tuesday with a chance of mixed precipitation and rain. .

Highlight
Resdients of northern Kentucky and southern Indiana needed no alarm clock yesterday morning as the area was rocked by a mild earthquake. With an epicenter near Evansville, IN, the quake occurred around 8:00 AM and registered 3.9 on the Richter Scale. Even though earthquakes of magnitude 4.0 and greater are capable of causing moderate damage, none was reported.

Weather Fact
Will we have a white Christmas? Historically, State College has a 50-75% chance of snow cover on December 25th. Pittsburgh historically has a 50% chance and Philadelphia has around a 25% chance. However, Given the favorable pattern for lake effect snow this season, snow cover will be most likely in the northwestern part of the state.
