Letter to the Editor
Letter is demonstrative of DNC's exclusionary tactics
After reading Joe Caucci's letter to the editor, I felt like I was the victim of a hate crime just for being a conservative. I do not believe that people should continue to blame conservative views for the narrow minded racism of society. I have worked on both sides of the political spectrum. Since being a student at Penn State, I have interned for both a Republican and a Democrat in Washington, D.C., and can tell you that I did hear racist and intolerant remarks in one of the offices. While it may suprise many, the racist remarks came from the liberal Democrat, not the conservative Republican. It was, in fact, the racist remarks and hateful message which turned me away from the Democratic party. The true party of inclusion is the Republican party. If you don't believe it, I will give you an example. When Dick Cheney came to Penn State, there was a group of students outside chanting "Dick Cheney go away; sexist, racist, anti-gay." If that is not a hate message, I don't know what is. For those of you that have not guessed who was chanting that yet, it was the bleeding-heart liberals who preach inclusion to everyone on this campus. I am continually offended by the liberals on this campus who continue to call the conservative students racist and intolerant people. If you are one of those people who think we are, I suggest you look at the way you behave during protests and political events. If you are chanting slogans like the ones that students were yelling at Dick Cheney, you are the truly intolerant person, not the conservatives.
