Today's University Park forecast
SunnyHappy Valley will continue to experience below normal temperatures this week as cool, Canadian air continues to grip the region. A storm system will pass north of the area on Wednesday, bringing a chance of flurries with it, but the remainder of the week should be dry. Behind this system a reenforcing shot of cold air will move into Pennsylvania, just in time for the end of classes.

Highlight

An unusual early season snow storm spread a swath of wintery weather across North Carolina and southeastern Virginia over the weekend. Eastern North Carolina was hardest hit as 6 to 8 inches of snow fell in most areas. One station in Edgecombe county reported even more snow, however, with a foot of total accumulation.

Did You Know?

The snowfall totals from this weekend over eastern North Carolina are unusual for any time of year. The 6 to 8 inches that fell exceeds the yearly average of 4 to 5 inches. Last year’s snowfall totals were above normal too. A record setting January storm dropped 6 to 12 inches in eastern N.C. and a whopping 20 inches farther inland in Raleigh.
