To those who participated in the Halloween decoration "contest" by taking items from homes around State College, here's some more food for thought. Dozens of homeowners who were simply trying to make their homes festive for trick-or-treaters were inconvenienced by having to go down to the State College Police Department in the hopes that our items were among those recovered. Unfortunately for many of us, it was a wasted trip as many items are still missing. But the most unfortunate outcome is the fact that in my quiet, pretty neighborhood filled with kids, dogs and an air of safety, one of my neighbors, a little girl, is now scared that someone will come back to the area and break into her house.
