Voting for Bush is wasted vote for higher education

Throughout the general election campaign, George W. Bush has claimed that education will be a top priority should he win the White House. He keeps going on and on about results, accountability, and standards.

He should save it. Texas ranks at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to support for public education, and the findings in the recent RAND report prove that Bush has no standing on the issue.

But, just in case any Penn State students are tempted to cast their votes for "W" and his "education" agenda, they should remember this quote by Bush that appeared in the San Antonio Express-News in March 1998: "Higher education is not my priority."
