Group performs annual Halloween concert

The Penn State Percussion Ensemble I, directed by Dan C. Armstrong, professor of music, will perform their annual Halloween concert at 8 p.m. today in the University Park School of Music Recital Hall.

The concert is free to the public, and will feature three student soloists and an appearance by Dennis Glocke, associate professor of music, according to a Penn State press release.

Jeff Barudin (senior-music education) will play with the group, performing a marimba solo. Brian Fronzaglia (junior-music education) will solo on the xylophone with marimba accompaniment on Edward MacDowell's "Witches' Dance."

Glocke is scheduled to conduct an arrangement of Prokofiev's "Field of the Dead." The musicians also will perform a Gounod's "Faust" waltz arranged for keyboard percussion, in addition to William Bolcom's "Graceful Ghost Rag."

The audience is encouraged to attend this festive concert in costume.
